Tested on: PC (exclusive game)Although the Total War series developers are always looking for new things to help improve their kids, each part shows that the most important ingredient is already, and simply needs to be maintained. The mix between real-time and turn-based, by definition, creates unique gameplay, for which many fans fall in advance. The power of the series is that those fans know that too, and just have to wait for what The Creative Assembly is looking for again, before they run into the store and buy the game.
Welcome to!A subreddit for all of those who love the Total War series. I was extremely tired of the campaign maps for Empire and had a hard imagining what my empire looked like on the world scale. I basically just print screened the mini-map a bunch of times and pieced it all together into one big map.
If you open the picture in Paint or whatever you choose to use, you can just paint fill each region to the appropriate colour. I made sure that everything is solid white and had to redraw a few boundaries so that each region would be filled with just one click.I really just made this for myself, but it ended up taking over four hours so I figured I'd share it. Sorry for the somewhat low resolution, I couldn't figure out an easy way around that. If anyone has any ideas please share it and I could maybe fix it up.edit: I forgot to colour Dagestan, is an updated version.
I also redrew all of the borders so that they're only 1 pixel thick.of my current game as The Netherlands for an example. It only took about 10 minutes to fill. I hope some people can put it to use. This map is my favourite in all the series, yet it is still the one that infuriates me the most. All I can see is several wasted oportunities to make the greatest map ever made for a TW game. As a Spaniard, it irks me that Spain is not divided.
CA could have at least made 3 countries: Castille, Andalusia and Catalonia. England, France and Sweden should be divided as well. In countless campaigns I see France get wiped out by half a stack of Dutch or Saboyans. Not to mention that the Warpath campaign map doesnt combine with the grand campaign when you buy the expansion. That's the thing, though. Other than Zulus, how many African tribes of note can you name off the top your head? Including Africa in an Empire sequel does sound amazing, but there is a lot of potential for the whole thing being mishandled. On that note, for a Empire II, it has to be the whole world.
That's what Empire should be about. But the resources and years of development necessary would be huge to do it properly, and to get it right it cannot be rushed. But with the way studios are expected to create product these days I don't see it happening soon. So in the mean time, CA should give one or two smaller scale games, but keep pushing the tech, and in ten years give us the game Empire could be. Until then, Medieval III for the love of all that is good in this world. Off the top of my head, and including African empires and stuff because just tribes is stupid:.
Masai. Xhosa. Malagasy. Kilwa Sultanate. Songhai Empire.
Ghanan Empire. Mali Empire. Kanem-Bornu. Kitara Empire.
Kingdom of Kongo. Nubia. Dahomey. Ashanti. Tuareg.
Mapungubwe. Axum.
Bantu (although that's a wider group, along with the Hutu and Tutsi which were sort of colonial inventions). Merina. Axum. Meroe. (Great) ZimbabweAlso, are we counting North Africa?
Because then you've got the Berbers, Morocco, Arab traders, Egypt and all of those. Then there's also the Boers, who were strictly European but had settled about 200 years prior to the Scramble for Africa and for all intents and purposes count as a native empire in the context of the Scramble for Africa.EDIT: Added some moreEDIT 2: Some more still. Should I keep going?. Tokugawa, Date, Owara, Oda, Takeda, Ashikaga, Toyotomi, Mori. Okay, that's it, but that's because I love chanbara and it spurred me to learn.
And that's part of my point. TW takes time periods very vivid and recognizable in the popular imagination as their settings. The truth is that in the popular imagination of the time period there are various easily recognizable European power and the natives, that other than Zulus and some of the more Arabic nature tribes, people don't anything about them.
It's not theirs not history there to know, it's just not well known history amongst their target audience. Hell, the folks who want a China TW (which would be great) probably only got interested in that history because of Wushu film and Dynasty Warriors.Edit- before anyone jumps down my throat, I actually never played any of the Shogun games. I love Japanese history and film, but for some reason the setting never grabbed me as setting I'd like to play in TW. Well I hate to tell you but you are a loner in that area of history. The average person knows literally nothing of any of the time periods in Shogun 2 past 'Matthew Perry opened Japan.'
Only the Boshin war is semi-popular outside of Japan and that is largely due to the popularity of Rurouni Kenshin.People buy things that are interesting. People like samurai, so people like Shogun.Know what else people really like? Tribal cultures. Just look at the fascination people have for the warriors of Maori and Azteca.
Primitive fighters are cool. Watching them fight is cooler.
Contents DescriptionThe United States of America is a nation forged in the fires of revolutionand rebellion against a British monarch seen as distant, foreign andtyrannical. After the French and Indian Wars, the British government took an entirelyunreasonable line: the American colonists should pay taxes to contributeto the navy and army that helped defend them. After all, those colonialfellows enjoyed the benefits of peace, protected by Britain's expensivesoldiers and sailors. The colonists had other views. The British respondedwith political stupidity and military ineptitude.Aided, once they had rebelled, by the French Bourbons (who, for reasons oftheir own, had every wish to see Britain preoccupied by war and thenhumiliated by seditious rebels), the Americans faced down Britain.
Thestruggle split countries, cities, towns, even families, but it united thenation. In its wake, the revolution left behind a new kind of nation, a republicwhere men choose their own destinies, and are not subject to the whims ofkings. This spirit of independence is a source of strength: it is an ideaworth defending! It is also a source of weakness, for Americans cherishthe right to do as they think best.
This is not necessarily a good thingin an army.America now has a future of boundless possibilities. A continent stretchesaway to the West, and no one is entirely sure what is to be found there. The Atlantic swell washes against the eastern seaboard, and beckonsAmerican seamen onwards: trade and adventure lie that way too. There maystill be scores to settle with the British in Canada, or ambitious nationsfrom Europe to discourage. There is much to do, if this newest and boldestof nations is to survive and prosper.General InformationThe United States is unique as it is the only playable emergent faction in the game by default, and is the only emergent faction that becomes a major faction. The United states is now free to expand and become economically rich on the American continent. The Org needs You!Please visit the for more information on how to help. What exactly happens when you beat the game, does it unlock anything? I was probably 3 to 5 turns away from beating the game with my GB long campaign but then at the end of one turn in particular (Year 1773) I got a repeating CTD that I can't stop no matter how I end the turn (changed diplomacy, rearanged troops, ect.) Bummer because I really wanted to see what was in store if I finished the game out. I had high hopes the latest patch would prevent these types of CTDs but I guess we still have a little bit to go. Well, the website lists 12 playable factions, and you can play all 12 from the start (US withstanding)Why would they tell an outright lie?Wow, you are really interested in this. I was not sure how you unlocked the US as the 12th. I heard you got it by beating something in the game and I assumed this was either RTI or Grand Campaign.
Now that I know nothing happens when you beat Grand Campaign it obviously unlocks if you beat RTI. I assume this where you post 'the website said US is unlocked after you beat RTI, why would you assume the webpage would lie to you'. Aside from unlockables, I was curious if the game had a cool closing video sequence or something like that. Thank you for keeping me updated to what the website said, it was most helpful.
I think I may have come off a bit.y there. My point is, that if we unlocked factions for completing the GC, it would be a pretty big deal, and would be announced by CA. It wouldn't be the sort of thing they would leave us in the dark about.I am with you, I was pretty certain there was nothing special if you won. I guess when you are having a hard time getting one of your campaigns past the CTDs to actually finish, in a state of frustration you start to imagine all types of cools things that might happen if you can just go a few more turns and win.:-).
Empire: Total War Grand Campaign WalkthroughGreat BritainThe grand campaign for Great Britain is centered on achieving dominance over the Americas. The British start with holdings in the Bahamas and Jamaica as well as a cozy relationship with their 'Thirteen Colonies' protectorate. Quickly into the campaign you will be offered a mission to capture the regions that pose a risk to your colonies: Georgia, Cherokee Territory, and New France. Since you will need to conquer Georgia and New France to claim victory anyhow it is a good idea to conquer the nearby Cherokee Territory as well.
